Homenagem a Shigeo Fukuda, 2009
João Machado realizou um poster de homenagem ao escultor, artista gráfico e cartazista japonês Shigeo Fukuda. O trabalho foi apresentado na mostra coletiva Shigeo Fukuda In Memoriam, organizada pela Poster Art Gallery, em Outubro de 2009 em Helsínquia

João Machado produced a poster honoring the outstanding Japanese graphic designer named Shigeo Fukuda. The work was presented at the Shigeo Fukuda In Memoriam, a collective exhibition, organized by the Poster Art Gallery in Helsinki in October 2009

Em 2007, 88 designers do mundo inteiro foram selecionados para, a convite da direção da Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), integrarem a exposição Marugame Uchiwa FUNFUN Exhibition. Com o tema The Wind of Love to The World, os uchiwa (leques de papel), são produzidos na sua maioria em Marugame, que responde a 90% da produção nacional. Esta exposição de leques, trabalhados pelos vários designers e artistas convidados foi organizada pelo Kagawa Design Project Executive Committee, e itinerou por várias cidades do Japão. No final, os trabalhos vendidos reverteram para a UNICEF.

In 2007, 88 designers from all around the world were selected to join the Marugame Uchiwa FUNFUN Exhibition at the invitation of the direction of the Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA). Under the theme The Wind of Love to the World, the uchiwa (paper fans) are mostly produced in Marugame, which accounts for 90% of national production. This exhibition of fans organized by the Kagawa Design Project Executive Committee, travelled around several cities of Japan. At the end, the profit from sales reversed in favor of UNICEF

20 anos GGG/DDD Galeria, Japão, 2006
No âmbito da comemoração do 20º Aniversário do Projeto GGG/DDD (Tóquio/Osaka), a Ginza Graphic Gallery, em Tóquio convidou João Machado a participar na exposição intitulada Exhibitions. Esta mostra apresentou um olhar retrospetivo do trabalho dos 160 designers gráficos (100 japoneses e 66 estrangeiros) que ao longo dos 20 anos expuseram a sua obra nesta conceituada galeria japonesa.
20 Years GGG/DDD Gallery, Japan, 2006
In the context of the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the GGG / DDD Project (Tokyo / Osaka), Ginza Graphic Gallery in Tokyo invited João Machado to participate in the exhibition entitled Exhibitions. This show presented a retrospective look at the work of the 160 graphic designers (100 Japanese and 66 foreign) who over the last 20 years exhibited their work in this prestigious Japanese gallery.

Exposição promovida no âmbito da comemoração dos 50 anos do SMAS – Serviços Municipalizados de Água e Saneamento de Almada, e assinalando a data do Dia Mundial da Água (22 de Março), teve lugar na Casa da Cerca – Centro de Arte Contemporânea de Almada. João Machado foi o primeiro designer gráfico convidado a expor neste espaço, apresentado trabalhos que dão a conhecer a sua obra em diferentes períodos.

Promoted by SMAS – Almada Water and Sanitation Services, as part of the commemoration of its 50 years of public service and on the World Water Day (22th March) the exhibition João Machado and the Visual Creation took place in Caxsa da Cerca – Almada’s Contemporary Art Center. João Machado was the first graphic designer invited to exhibit in this space, presenting projects that display his work in different periods.

1º Selo de Cortiça, 2002
em 2007, os CTT – Correios de Portugal emitiram na Assembleia da República o primeiro selo de cortiça do mundo. Da autoria de João Machado, esta emissão inteiramente produzida em cortiça procurou evocar o sector corticeiro português, de grande relevância para a economia nacional. O selo tem um valor facial de 1 euro e uma tiragem de 230 mil exemplares.

1st Cork Seal, 2002
In 2007, the CTT – Correios de Portugal issued at the Portuguese Parliament the first cork stamp in the world. This project, entirely produced in cork, designed by João Machado, sought to evoke the Portuguese cork industry and its great relevance to the national economy. The stamp has a face value of 1 euro and a print run of 230 thousand copies.

Em 2002, João Machado foi convidado a expor no museu dinamarquês de design em Aaarhus (Dansk Plakatmuseum), na Dinamarca, onde apresentou os seus mais recentes cartazes, bem como trabalhos na área filatélica e no design de objectos.

In 2002, João Machado was invited to show his work at the Dansk Plakatmuseum in Aaarhus, Denmark. Half a hundred of his most recent posters, on very diversified subjects, from the environment to philately, have been shown in this danish design museum.

Timor-Lorosae / Selos da Independência, 2002
Em Abril de 2000, Timor tornou-se um pais independente (TimorLorosae), emitindo os seus primeiros selos (um para consumo interno e outro para correio internacional).
Da autoria de João Machado, os 200 mil exemplares impressos, foram vendidos nas duas primeiras estações de correios, em Dili e Baucau.

In April 2000, Timor becomes an independent country (Timor-Lorosae) and issued its first stamps (one stamp intended for the inland, the other one for the international mail). Designed by João Machado, the 200.000 printed copies, were sold in the first two post offices in Dili and Baucau.

O primeiro selo com o preço em Euros e Escudos, desenhado por João Machado, foi lançado oficialmente na Casa da Moeda, com o tema Euro – A Nova Moeda Europeia. Tem o valor de 47 eurocêntimos /95 escudos. Com uma tiragem de 500 mil exemplares, é acompanhado pela emissão de um sobrescrito, um bilhete postal e um carimbo comemorativo.

First Stamp in Euros, 2001
The first Portuguese stamp with the price in Euros (and Escudos) was designed by João Machado. It was officially launched at the Casa da Moeda, with the theme Euro – The New European Coin. It has the value of 47 eurocents /95 escudos. With a print run of 500 thousand copies, it is accompanied by an envelope, a postcard and a commemorative stamp.
